Bishop Philip has asked Fr. Michael to move to St. John's in Port Glasgow as part of a series of changes in the Diocese. He will move on October 30 th . Fr. Thomas Boyle will be the new Parish Priest here in Bishopton on that same date.
Our Annual Special Collection for the Missions will take place at the end of each Mass today, Sunday 19 th October, Mission Sunday. This is one of the ways in which we are invited to support the Missionary Activity of the Church throughout the world.
Mass will be celebrated each day in November for the Faithful Departed. If you wish anyone in your family remembered especially, envelopes for your November Lists are available in the porch.
Thanks to those who volunteered as helpers and leaders for the Children's Liturgy, Fr. Michael will be in touch with you to ask you to complete the disclosure checks for the Scottish Criminal Records Office. The Church requires anyone who comes into contact with Children or Vulnerable Adults to have these checks to ensure the safety of our children and other vulnerable people. Please ask Fr. Michael if you require further details about this.
Our campaign for baby's hats has now ended we have knitted a fine total of 528 hats – what a fantastic achievement! If you or your friends have any other please bring them to the Church as soon as possible and they will be delivered to Save the Children. Thank you! Thank you! You may recall that ‘Save the Children' are promoting this campaign to help reach Goal Number 4' of the Millennium Development Campaign fro Africa. That goal was to reduce infant mortality for children under 5 by 75% by the year 2015. One of the major killers of children and babies in Africa is pneumonia contracted during the cold winter nights. Save the Children proposed a ‘Knit One Save One' which invited those who can to knit a little woollen bonnet for a Baby.
At the recent meeting of the PPC we accepted the nomination, for this year's Charity, the building project of Church and School to be undertaken by Fr. Augustine who supplied in our Parish over the Summer. A board with all the details on it will be available next week and all our charity fundraising this year will be collected for this cause. The SVdP Society of the Parish have generously kicked off this by donating £500 of the monies they raised at the BBQ this year.
Please remember in your prayers Martin Doherty, who lived briefly in our Parish, and who will be Ordained to the Permanent Diaconate (together with Paul Rodgers) next Sunday, 26 th October in Greenock.

Please park your cars with consideration for others – you might be inclined, as the road outside is narrow, to park on the pavement, but if you do it requires pedestrians, particularly if they have prams or young children, to walk on the road as there is no pavement on the other side of our road…. Remember there is parking round the back of the church too. The Church is very full so don't expect to arrive at one minute to the hour and park beside the Church…!
Please remember not to throw away your used postage stamps. If you out there in the box in the porch, we shall send them to the Marie Curie Cancer Fund, who will use them to raise funds.
The 3 church cleaning groups take it in turn to keep the church tidy. This means only about 1 hour of vacuuming and dusting every 6 weeks. If you have time to spare, why not join one of the groups? Phone 01505 863734 or see Church Cleaning poster in the porch.
If you have a Hearing Aid remember our church is equipped with a loop system. Switch to the “T” setting and you will receive everything from the sound system direct to your ears!
