Parish Priest

The Parish Priest is Fr. Michael McMahon, who came to the Parish in October 1998. He was born in Kilmacolm, a village close to Bishopton, in fact as he grew up the Parish in Kilmacolm was cared for by the Priests from Bishopton. He was educated at St. John's Port Glasgow, St. Mary's College Blairs and St. Columba's Gr eenock. He studied Philosophy (Ph. B. 1981) and Theology (S.T.B. 1984) at the Gregorian University in Rome. He did post graduate studies at the Biblical Institute in Rome and Jerusalem and at the Ecole Biblique and Hebrew University in Jerusalem (L.S.S. 1988). 

Since returning to Scotland he has been assistant Priest in St. John's Barrhead and St. Mirin's Cathedral, Paisley. He was Resident Lecturer in New Testament at Scotus College and Director of Studies there until his appointment to Bishopton. As well as being Parish Priest he is the extra mural Lecturer in New Testament at Scotus College and Director of Adult Education and Formation for the Diocese of Paisley.
